The island by night
Romantic dinner on Ischia: where to go, what to expect
Ischia is an island that slows down from sunset onwards. For a romantic dinner you don't need a spectacular restaurant — you need a table where time stretches.

01
Lacco Ameno, on the corso
Corso Angelo Rizzoli is pedestrian, elegant, short. At sunset the harbour lights come on and the Fungo stands in silhouette. Dining at an outdoor table here is a classic. La Cantina del Mare, at no. 20, is a consolidated family choice built around the day's catch.
02
Sant'Angelo, on the water
The pedestrian village on the south coast. Tables on the pier, the illuminated Rock behind, an intimate atmosphere. Perfect for a quieter evening.
03
Forio, watching the sunset
The west coast is sunset country. Restaurants on Citara beach or near the Chiesa del Soccorso let you dine as the sun drops into the sea.
04
What to expect
Slow service, unhurried courses, a glass per course. Ischian seafood cooking is not in a rush — a tasting menu can last two and a half hours, and that's the point.
05
The tip
Book a table for one hour after sunset: arrive while the light is still warm, dine into the dark, walk out under the stars. That is the right rhythm.
