Getting around Ischia

Getting around Ischia without a car: buses, taxis, microtaxis

Ischia is small (46 km²) and well served: you can visit the whole island without bringing a car. In summer, it's actually the smarter choice.

Getting around Ischia without a car: buses, taxis, microtaxis

01

EAV buses

The EAV network covers the entire island. Two circular lines loop the full coast: CS (clockwise) and CD (anticlockwise). Every 20–30 minutes in high season, 40–60 in low. Ticket: ~1.50€, or day and week passes.

02

Microtaxis

Small electric or petrol cars typical of Ischia, seating 4–5. They circulate everywhere, hailed on the street or called by phone. Very practical for short trips with luggage or uphill.

03

Regular taxis

Found at ports and main towns. Higher fares than microtaxis but larger. Many drivers speak English and often double as informal guides.

04

By boat

In summer, taxi-boats link ports and coves unreachable by land. A way to see the island from the sea — and sometimes the only way to reach certain beaches.

05

On foot and by bike

Historic centres (Ischia Ponte, Lacco Ameno, Sant'Angelo, Forio) are pedestrian. Trails like Monte Epomeo or San Montano bay are made for walking. E-bikes are becoming common.
