Getting there

How to get to Ischia from Naples: ferries, hydrofoils, times

Ischia is reached by sea. Ferries (cars + passengers) and hydrofoils (passengers only) sail every day from Naples and Pozzuoli. Here's how to choose.

How to get to Ischia from Naples: ferries, hydrofoils, times

01

From Naples

Two ports: Molo Beverello (fast hydrofoils, ~50 min, no cars) and Calata Porta di Massa (car ferries, ~90 min). Main operators: Caremar, SNAV, Alilauro, Medmar. In high season, hourly departures.

02

From Pozzuoli

Caremar and Medmar car ferries to Ischia Porto or Casamicciola. ~60 min. Best if you arrive from the north (A56 ring road), avoiding central Naples traffic.

03

From Naples Capodichino airport

No direct flights to Ischia. From Capodichino, take the Alibus shuttle to Molo Beverello (~30–40 min). Allow at least 2 hours between landing and boarding.

04

Which Ischia port to land at

Three ports: Ischia Porto (main), Casamicciola (best for Lacco Ameno and Forio), Forio (west coast). For Lacco Ameno, Casamicciola is closest: 10 minutes by car.

05

With or without a car

In summer, bringing a car to Ischia is discouraged: narrow roads, heavy traffic, limited parking. Better to arrive on a hydrofoil and move by bus, taxi or microtaxi (see our guide).
