Ischia off-season

Ischia in low season: why October–May is magical

The island in summer is one thing; the island in winter is another. Those who discover it out of season tend to keep coming back at that time.

Ischia in low season: why October–May is magical

01

Climate

Ischia has mild winters — average temperatures 10–15°C — and long springs. Sunny days are common even in January. It rains more than in summer, but rarely for days on end.

02

Thermal parks at ideal temperature

In low season the hot pool water (36–38°C) contrasts with the cool air — the experience is more intense. Some parks (Negombo, Castiglione) stay open; others reopen in April.

03

Restaurants tell you stories

In summer a restaurant serves 200 covers. In winter, 30 — and the owner has time to sit at your table. It's the best moment to understand what Ischia really eats, beyond the tourist window.

04

Prices and availability

Lodging is 30–50% cheaper than August; ferries are free; parking is easy; restaurants take you without a booking.

05

What changes

Some places close (beach clubs, hotels open only 4 months). Bus lines run less often. But everything that is truly Ischia — the Lacco Ameno corso, Sant'Angelo, Ischia Ponte, historic restaurants — stays open.
